After several years working in practices owned by other people, you have finally taken the plunge and set up your own clinic on Brisbane's northside.  The clinic is conveniently located right next door to a large veterinary diagnostic company that has immunological, microbiological and genetic labs - So you even save on courier costs by taking your samples next door yourself.

You've been there for a year or two now and when you arrive back from lunch one Tuesday afternoon during the Easter holidays, you are met by a family that you have gotten to know quite well. "Well if it isn't the Mandersons!"  you exclaim.

Mr and Mrs Manderson and their children, Amelia and Angus, moved to Brisbane from Melbourne just six months ago and they have brought both their Guinea Pig (named Stuart) and their Brittany Spaniel (named Spears) in to see you numerous times.  Both animals seem to pick up bacterial infections very easily. Although you have been conservative in your use of antibiotics, you are starting to wonder if there isn't something funny going on.
